Morning all
Players apologizing after defeats; good or bad?
Personally, I would rather they got their head down, worked hard, performed well and won the next game. Whilst I appreciate the gesture, sorry is an easy word to say. It doesn't change things. Not one iota.
Didn't Shawcross say sorry to Ramsey? I'm sure that helped Rambo get over the hurt of a destroyed leg and an absence from football for 9 months.
Like I said, it's a nice gesture. It shows the players care (and for the money they're on, they bloody well should!) and it also shows a more down to earth nature we don't really see.
Apologising is fine. When it is done through football. Any old sod can say sorry. How to gain forgiveness from the fans is the next performance. That is why the Braga game is so hard to take. I was really expecting a passionate performance from the Gunners, showing the hurt of the 45mins of the North London derby. We were somewhat depleted, but it was still a strong side.
No point dwelling on it much longer, we have a big game on Saturday. Away from home against a strong (ish) side just might be what we need. It's a chance for fans and players to pull together. The league title is still there to win. I remember a time when 3 losses over the course of the season would pretty much put you out of contention. These days it is very much championship winning form even in the first half of the season.
Let's keep the faith, after a decent start to the season we've had a bit of a wobble. But we can get back to the high standards once again.
Fucking November!!
Thanks for reading.
