We have ourselves our very own Zinedine Zidane.

Afternoon all

Hope you've all had a good weekend. Arsenal really like to make things tense huh? But I tell you what, I love them for it. Isn't that what being a football fan is all about?

Onto last Saturdays game, and one thing stands out for me. Samir Nasri. What a player. What a truly unbelievable player.  Out of all the players likened to the legendary Zizou, Nasri comes closest. By an absolute mile. He is blessed with talent, his two goals on Saturday showed this. Like Zidane, he also has a spiky attitude. Just ask Joey Barton when Sami boy sent him tumbling to the floor!

Now I'm not saying Nasri is as good as Zidane, but he could maybe achieve that level if he keeps improving the way he has done. In recent weeks, Nasri has taken this team by the scruff of the neck and dragged it across the finishing line. And he's done it in some style. Without our captain, added to his stop-start form this season, it has been crucial we've had another star performer.

It really is remarkable that Samir Nasri has now become a main player for Arsenal. I always thought he would be a good player, just not this good. Sir King Gareth Bale MBE, player of the year? Forget it. Samir Nasri has lit up a dull Premier League campaign. All thanks, in part, to the legendary French manager...Raymond Domenech.

Alot of people have had their opinions on the performances of Alex Song. Whilst he has been below form, I don't think that is in any way related to his more advanced position. I would be seriously pissed off if he ventured forward when the other two midfielders were ahead of him. But that is simply not the case. What is wrong with variety going forward? We're lambasted for being too easy to read, so why not mix it up a bit.

I'm just reading that Johan Djourou is injured for tomorrow. Have to say I am gutted. He has really come into his own lately, and now I thought was the time for him to become a mainstay in the Arsenal defence. I understand he will have niggles here and there, but like I said I am gutted. He is a calming influence at centre half.

Tomorrow we're back at the Grove, on Champions League duty. You'd have to say we are gonna win, but we still need to go out with the right attitude. Although a potentially easier draw is there if we top the group, this is when the Champions League really steps up in terms of quality. Granted a few little teams sneak through (Tottenham!), but no matter the position expect a difficult draw. Bring it on!!

Enjoy the rest of the day, hope the snow isn't have to much of an effect!

Thanks for reading, as always feedback is welcome.

  1. Nasri has gone from promising kid to "nice player" (as they would say in basketball) to a top-level star in just 2 years.

I just hope he doesn't shave his head like Zidane. And, frankly, I hope he doesn't head-butt any opposing bastards -- Eboue would probably be better at that anyway.
