Afternoon all
So a progress of sorts in the goalkeeping department. After having an initial £2 million bid rejected for Mark Schwarzer back in May, we have decided to offer...yep, £2 million again. Bizarre. Arsenal of all clubs must know what it is like being haggled over a players price, regards Cesc, but surely we're not that frugal to offer at least £2million more. Yes, he may be a 37/38 year old, but what if he is a championship winning signing? Surely that is worth a gamble!
Injury curse has hit again. This time it has taken Emmanuel Frimpong for 9 months or so. It's safe to say his season is over. Arsene Wenger stated that the progress of both Frimpong and Jack Wilshere forced him to lay off signing a midfielder. Now Frimpong has a lengthy injury, do not expect Le Boss to look for a replacement signing. I feel Craig Eastmond will get further chances to claim a first team place. Don't be surprised either to see someone like Chuks Aneke appear in Carling Cup games and be in around the first team squad.
Staying with the youngsters, a youthful but very promising Arsenal reserves team beat their Manchester United counterparts, with Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Wellington Silva netting. Am I the only one to be really excited over the prospect of young Silva? I can't remember having someone of his flair and skill don the Red and White in recent years.
Sad to see Jay Simpson leave. Especially to Hull City, but at least his manager isn't Phil Brown. Last season he started bang on form at QPR but seemed to ebb away with the frequent changes in management which is entirely understandable. I had hopes for him playing in the Arsenal first team but technically, and with the amount of competition in front of him, he wasn't quite good enough. All the best though Jay! Good article here..
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, the boss reveals Squillaci to be just a candidate to provide competition in the centre of defence.
Will probably post again later on with my first match review, and will be posting tomorrow evening after our thrashing of Blackpool!
Please spread this blog around to whoever is interested, would like to make a success of this! Thanks for reading.
