We're onto something special

Morning all

Over the years, it's been the same old same old for Arsenal, how next year is the year. One more year and this team will produce. Well, for me, that time is over.

Some have said our start to the season has been relatively straight-forward. Not a chance! Liverpool away, with a new manager in place, Anfield rocking, is no easy place to play. Yet we looked the part, we truly did. We dismantled Blackpool with ease, yet there fourth in the table I believe. They will take a few points off alot of teams this season, and I hope they do in order to stay up. Blackburn away is never easy for Arsenal, yet we never look threatened.

Bacary Sagna at work

Next up, Bolton at home. The brutes never change their ways. Kick and lump-it-in-the-air football. We could have easily have caved in at 1-1 but we showed the Arsenal spirit and won the game at ease. Now maybe I'm getting carried away, so what? That's what being a fan is all about. I was watching the Champions League games last night and I could not have been more pleased supporting Arsenal.

Instead of watching old favourite Micky Silvestre in action against the crumbling Spurs, I opted for the Man United game. In hindsight, a big mistake. Rangers opted for the attacking formation of 8-1-1. Shrewd though it was for the manager of Rangers to gain a point at Old Trafford, but football is an entertainment. Teams are in the Champions League to play football. Football was not on show last night. Man United struggled to break down a sturdy looking Rangers defence. (side note - Antonio Valencia suffered a horrific leg break last night. Think I join all gooners in wishing him a speedy recovery!)

This led to think about the Arsenal yet again. How would have Arsenal dealt with playing Rangers. Honestly? We'd struggle. But not as much as Man United. They looked incredibly one dimensional. Going forward, I don't think any team can match us. Barcelona are up there, but they do not have as many options as we do. Nasri and Rosicky are similar players, but both offer different styles. Rosicky will pass the around more than Nasri, but the young Frenchman will buzz around the pitch, taking on men. Arshavin can explode at any moment, creating a goal out of nothing or scoring from a ridiculous position. No full back can deal with the pace of Theo Walcott. All this attacking talent supplied by the creativity of Cesc Fabregas, does it really get any better?

It's all looking rosy
When our intricate passing doesn't work, we have two, three at a push, strong strikers to aim for. Marouane Chamakh, Nicklas Bendtner and possibly Robin van Persie. Again maybe getting carried away, but Chamakh looks to be one of Wenger's top signings. Is he going to get us 20 odd goals a season? Probably not, but he will get other attackers that number. Don't get me wrong though, he has the potential to get the goals. I love the fella, love his work rate and his attitude. I think his defensive work, closing down fullbacks and centre backs is going to be crucial to us. Add this to the ever improving Bendtner, why not be optimistic, god knows I am!!

Some of you may scoff at this post, but I firmly believe we're about to hit the big time once again. I don't believe the Invincibles will be matched, but that doesn't to Arsenal alone.

Come May 2011, I believe we will be at Wembley contesting the Champions League final. Tonight, we will send out a strong message to the rest of Europe - time to sit up and take notice!

Thanks for reading, take care.
