Home comforts

Morning all

We are at that stage of the season where the games are coming thick and fast. Next up are the most Jekyll and Hyde team in the league, Wigan Athletic.

You never know what you're going to get with that side, one minute beating great teams and the next dropping points to teams at the bottom end of the table. Sound familiar?

But, we should not fear this side. At home we have a very good record against them. And scoring in numbers too. The majority of the players are now on top of their form, and they are enjoying their football. It's time we smashed a team at home, and why not start tomorrow?

Of course we could struggle if Wigan defend in numbers, which is why it is important we start at a frenetic pace. If we keep the high tempo up as we have done in recent weeks, I see no reason why we can't beat a struggling Wigan side.

I hope Wojciech Szczesny keeps his place in goal. He seems a shouter at the back and to be honest, I think he scares alot of strikers. Which is good. I'd expect Gibbs to be dropped in favour of Clichy, and there's no problem there as Gael is reaching top form once more. Denilson, although having a fine game against Leeds, would probably be ousted by Jack Wilshere. Wilshere and Song have a great understanding in the centre of the park, and it would be a shame to break that up. Captain Cesc Fabregas will come back in, pushing Nasri further up the field. I love how Nasri and Cesc link up, and as I blogged a few months ago, they really are our version of Iniesta and Xavi. Both players are on the same wavelength, and they have the ability to cut through any defence.

Another player returning to form in Robin van Persie. He is one of our leaders, and when leading the line, he gives us that extra bit of class Chamakh doesn't have. That is no offence towards the Moroccan, he has been excellent this season. But van Persie's skill and touch on the ball is hardly rivalled in Europe. After being rested for Wednesday, Theo Walcott will be fit and raring to go, a good sign for us no doubt!

Talking about all these players just shows how strong our squad is. I haven't mention Diaby, Bendtner, Ramsey, Vermaelen, Eboue or Rosicky. A really strong squad. I hope the substitutes are ready to make an impact when called upon.

7 of our next 8 games are at home, and what a perfect time to pick up our home form. We need teams to fear coming to the Emirates, and by doing that we need to win games, and win them in style. Let's start tomorrow.

So that's it for today, hopefully we hear some positive news on a centre back coming in. I mentioned on Twitter last night that I don't see the need for a stop gap signing. Why not just buy a quality centre back, and in the summer see what's what, and revisit the situation? I think that will be a more beneficial option. But I'm not manager of the greatest club in the world, so their you go.

Thank's for reading.

If you're not already, please for me on Twitter. My username is @CescAndTheCity. Apologies if I upset you!
